Day two in New York…

Wednesday, August 29th, 2012

The show is open! The first stop is the best stop…Handmade! This is where we’ll meet some of our favorite designers we know and love, like Jeanine Payer, and meet new designers we hope to bring in the store for the first time. This section is the creme de la creme of my buying. I get so excited to start. Let’s see what we found…

Always a pleasure to see Jeanine Payer and discover her new designs for the season. Needless to say we spent a bulk of our time in this booth talking, photographing, ordering and just soaking in all her jewelry.

Lulu’s jewelry is amazing in a different way. Her line is so diverse. I love creating a story with her jewelry.

Lots of new finds coming to Blue Windows…

I met Laurel Denise last year at the New York show. I am so happy that her jewelry continues to sell. She is so sweet and you can tell that her jewelry is purely her. The words inscribed on her  jewelry are her personal script. She just had a baby and is learning to appreciate the “small” things in life.

LOVED Amy Peters display this year! This line is fun and whimsical.

New line Peg & Awl…husband and wife team.

A bit of “bad” good food before seeing the musical Once…

This show was more than I could have hoped for. One of my favorite things about New York is you can always see a show! We satyed a bit after to get autographs from the cast. I love when my playbill is full of autographs. I have about 15 in my collection just from New York. They are one of my favorite things. So, Day two was a success for work and play!

Day three to come…

Day one in New York…

Tuesday, August 28th, 2012

Time for New York! I can’t believe it’s that time of year when I am thinking of Fall and how to set up my store for Christmas. This year I decided to take my manager, Holli, and make it more than just work. We took the red eye flight on Thursday night and arrived very early Friday morning. After a long train/subway ride to our hotel we had a bit of breakfast, took a 2 hour nap and then headed out to do some shopping in SoHo!

They change the mats in the elevator…so cool.

The most comfortable beds.

a little street art…

You can find inspiration anywhere you choose to look.

stopped for lunch at my favorite spot…

never hurts to just try shoes on…

Holli took me out to dinner to one of her favorite Italian restaurants…

Day one is done and tomorrow we start the Gift Show.

Looking forward to finding great merchandise for Blue Windows!

We got Mobbed!…

Thursday, August 9th, 2012

Monday night we got Cash Mobbed!  “A cash mob is a group of people who assemble at a local small business and all buy items from that business. The purpose of these mobs is to support both the local businesses and the overall community,” Living Long Beach. They are told to bring $20 to spend at the secret location. Monday night they met at Paradis at 7:00pm, tasted some ice cream samples and then headed to Blue Windows where they would spend the $20 they were told to bring. Stacia, from Frosted Cupcakery, brought cupcakes as a treat while they shopped. After the mob several of us went to Boubouffe for dinner and drinks. What a great night full of community! I am so blessed!
