Today I met 3 year old Bunlak Song. He is here in the United States to receive heart surgery made possible through Hearts Without Boundaries, my chosen charity for January-March. He came with his sister, Bunkek Song, who took the long journey to be by her brother’s side. Bunlak was only two days old when his homeless mother begged a family visiting the hospital to take her son. By nightfall the mother had left the hospital and her child behind. Bunlak’s adoptive parents make a living selling gasoline in plastic bottles. But they have taken the boy in and say he has brought them luck.

Blue Windows is donating 10% of our profits to Hearts Without Boundaries through the end of March. Thank you to all my customers who shopped during January, February and March. Know that part of your spending will help this little boy receive his surgery. I know the cost is high and they need all the donations they can get. David Kem, a member of HWB came along with two volunteers, Petri and Lily. While talking to him about Bunlak and his story he said something that truly made an impact on me. All we need is 20,000 people to donate $1. Imagine how often we take a dollar for granted. This thought made me realize how a small amount of money combined with a large number of people can make such a huge difference. He also stated he would much rather it be a community that comes together rather than one individual. So true.

We look forward to updates on Bunlak’s condition. Keep him in your prayers.
